Grill or Barbecue, What’s the Difference?

Grill or Barbecue: Did you know that there is a difference?

I thought that I was pretty well up with most of the nuances associated with all forms of cooking in the outdoors but I certainly didn’t know this one.

But it turns out that amongst Experts, there is a very clear one and like a all experts if you give them a chance they will take great pleasure in explaining the whole thing in great detail.

So I did some research and this is what I found out.

Grill or Barbecue: So what is the difference?

Barbecue:
Barbecue and barbecuing are a way of cooking meat using the indirect heat and smoke

from a wood or charcoal fire in a barbecue pit or smoker. Barbecuing is for the slow smoking of tough cuts of meat.

Grilling:
Grilling on the other hand is hot and fast cooking over direct heat like Portable Tailgating Grills Propane gas grill or other similar flame and is used for cooking more tender meats.

So do you Grill or Barbecue?
It seems that everyone that throws anything on a hot flame grill, burgers, hot dogs, chicken is grilling.

BBQ may be over a grill but it must be an indirect heat and is most often used for ribs, brisket and such with a heavy BBQ sauce. BBQ involves lower temperature and closing the lid for smoke. To properly Bar-b-que something is to do it the smoky way, that is you are smoking it, cooking it with smoke over time, sometimes for hours.

Most outside cooking units can be used for both grill and BBQ. The grill is the open metal support on which you place food. Grilling is done by searing the meat juices with high heat. Grill is without oil, but with or without marinade BBq is with oil, but with or without marinade

I thought it was interesting.
