How To Get Picky Kids To Eat Healthy Simply
I was a fussy eater. In fact my mother had an entire family recipe book littered throughout with comment of “Richard Likes” or did not as the case may be. When I became a parent myself however, I found that the how to get picky kids to eat healthy was reasonably simple.
I vowed that my children would not be made to eat anything and I was true to that vow.
The way it worked was that when the children got old enough to understand they were told that they did not have to eat anything that they didn’t want. But that they could not have anything else until the next snack or meal time. That of course meant that they did not get desert.
It seemed to work. All my children
have grown to be healthy and strong young men.
I find however that many young families find my approach too radical and are concerned about their children’s eating.
If you are such a parent you may find this article to be helpful.
One thing I am passionate about however: a child “must never” be forced to eat everything on their plate. This just breads bad eating psychology. If you are concerned about your child’s eating habit check with your doctor. If they say there is nothing wrong back off. With a healthy eating schedule and only offering health foods, children will eat when they are hungry.
My generation grew up with enormous amount of pressure to eat everything on their plate and it is a significant contributor to our weight gain issues.
